The National Museum Of Ukrainian History First was famous as The Kievan Museum of Art, Science and Handicraft. Now there are about 600000 exhibits presenting the Ukrainian history. The collection of the museum is very precious in scientific and ethnographic aspect. A lot of historical documents: edicts, bills, letters of Ukrainian officials are kept here. Tourists can see more than 20000 photos of 19-20 centuries: portraits, landscapes, plot pictures which reflect this epoch very truly. The museum is also very proud of its collection of household articles of that time: instruments of labor, clothes, carpets, embroideries, table-clothes, ceramics, chinaware, delftware, Easter eggs, 7000 orders, 2000 types of arms of 12-20 centuries, about 10000 pieces of art and lots of other exhibits representing great cultural value.

Museum Of Folk Architecture It was founded in 1969 as a reserve-museum of folk culture and situated in the village Pirogovo on the outskirts of the city. The total area of the museum is 150 hectares. A lot of districts and regions are represented here. Tourists can visit dwelling houses, wood churches, barns, water- and windmills and also see peasants’ utensils, clothes, crockery. The most ancient articles date back to 16 – 17 centuries! The museum is always open for visitors willing to see striking national festivals which take place on the territory of the museum.

Museum Of Ukrainian Fine Arts Nowadays the Museum of Ukrainian Fine Arts extensively displays the national art culture. The exposition, occupying two floors, built according to historical-chronological principle gives the objective presentation of the development of the Ukrainian art from the antiquity to nowadays. The collection includes icons related to 12-18 centuries, paintings and sculptures.

Museum Of The History Of Kiev A very cognitive museum on the origin and development of the city. It displays the archeological findings of Kiev and its outskirts. Some of the exhibits can be called quite unique. Different picture exhibitions take place in the museum.

Museum Of History Of The Great Patriotic War (World War II ) Except the memorial complex there are more than 8000 exhibits in the exposition of the museum. On the territory of the complex you can see models of weapons and military equipment, which were used during the II World War, and the War in Afghanistan also. You’ll be given an opportunity to climb the monument “ Mother Native Land ”(with the help of a special elevator) the hight of which is 100 m and from thereout enjoy the marvelous view on the city.

Archeological Museum The exposition of the museum presents the history of the nations which inhabited ancient Ukraine and their states: Tirre (VI cent. B.C.), Olvia (I cent. B.C. – mid. III cent. A.D.). Olvia (derived from the ancient Greek word meaning “happy”) was a substantial centre of ancient Greek culture in the Black Sea Northern region. The museum keeps the booklets related to the Middle Ages. You can also enjoy the sight of models and dioramas of Kiev .

Pushkin’s Museum One of the newest museums of the city. You will be surprised to find a number of unique publications of the poet and information about Pushkin’s visits to Kiev in 1820 and 1821 years – among the exhibits of the museum. The block in which the museum is situated was built in 1882. Here for several years lived the family of the professor of Kievan religious academy Afanasiy Bulghakov. And from this place first went to school his first-born – the future great writer Michail Bulghakov.
