Lesya Ukrainka Russian Drama Theater This traditional-rich venue was established in the late 19 th century and is often referred to as the ‘ theater of the human soul’. In the very centre of the historical part of the City, not far from Kreshatik, between the two old streets – Pyshkhinand Bogdan Khmelnytsky street there stand a world known theater of the Russian Drama. The citizens of Kiev love this theater a lot and are very proud to have it in their City.
The value of the theater has always been determined by the presence of the bright individuals.
Lesya Ukrainka Theater can be proud of its actors and directors. M. Romanov, Y. Lavrov, E.Opalova, V. Khalatov, G. Tovstonogov and many others made a great contribution to the Theater’s life and are always remembered by the audience.
M. Reznikovych is heading the Theater nowadays. He tries to follow all the traditions of the theater created by its founders.

A night in the opera Kiev has a number of excellent drama theaters and music houses for classical music, ballet or avant-garde. Around 30 altogether. There is also a professional puppetry on Sagajdatshnij street for the kids.

Actor Cafe-Theatre Founded in 1987, it had no separate building at first. The actors had to perform on the stages of different other theatres and cafes, such as Teremok cafe or Russia Art Museum , etc. Finally the actors found their second home in the building of Chapaev movie theatre on Lvov square – that is where they perform nowadays. The repertoire is about 10 plays, including those by Gogol, Galin and Durremant. The theatre is also famous for the actors – a lot of famous actors form the most well known Kiev theatres take part in the performances.

Plastic Drama Theatre on Pechyorsk Established in 1988, it used to be an amateur union first. The actors experimented with the method, trying to inspire their movements. In 1994 the theatre received the status of state theatre for its actors’ professionalism. The theatre has taken part in a number of different festivals and is highly evaluated by the critics. It is the only drama theatre of this kind in Kiev .
The chamber hall houses about 50 persons. The interior is very suitable for relaxation and feeling at home. Every visitor is served a cup of coffee, and after the performance is over you are welcome to come back to the bar to discuss what you have just seen.
