Metro

One of the big players on Petersburg 's club scene, Metro club is everything the others aren't: highly fashionable, ostentatious and shamelessly corporate (note the Coca-Cola banner lining the facade). Predictably, the club attracts the city's young, reasonably well-off ultra-trendies. Entry is more expensive than at other clubs, as are bar prices. The cavernous venue has three levels with sizeable bars on each. The ground level dance floor plays Russian disco music and gets sweatily crowded, while the next level is aimed at a more techno-oriented crowd. Fans of European dance and house music head to the new upper level which is open on Friday, Saturday, Monday and Wednesday nights. Admission: Monday-Thursday: 10pm-11pm RUR80, after 11pm RUR120; Friday, Saturday and public holidays: 10pm-11pm RUR120, 11pm-midnight RUR160, after midnight RUR200.

La Plage  ("The Beach")

About 12 - 15 minute taxi from Center.  It's on other side of river from Nevsky Prospect so bridge times are an issue.  Large two story club where bartenders create strong demand for exotic (read as expensive) drinks involving fire.  Lots of energy here, though you won't hear much English.  On weekends, expect to wait in line a few minutes to get in.  Cover charge is about $10.

PLAZA

Plaza club today - is one of the most popular nightclubs in the city, operating 6 days a week - Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Thursday night fashion shows are especially popular with PLAZA fans. On Fridays and Saturdays well-known Russian and foreign pop-musicians are introduced. For example "BONEY-M" and "LONDON BEAT" with great success presented their programs on the PLAZA stage.

The Club can house 1200 guests; there are a fine restaurant with European cuisine and a Casino there as well.

In August 2001 PLAZA celebrated its first Birthday. Club has become one of the favorite places for young people and the guests of our city. In spring 2001 PLAZA won the Independent Moscow Prize in the field of show business "Night Life Awards" as "The Best Club in St. Petersburg 2000".

Akvatoria

The bowling alley at Aquatoria club is the biggest one, and one of the first bowling halls that appeared in the city. They have good equipment and nine bowling lanes, all very well maintained. It's the ideal place for an evening out though the prices are rather. Nevertheless the place is always crowded at night, and if you want to bowl in the evening, you better call and reserve the lane. Once you are in and tired of rolling, you can chill out in their bar or restaurant.
Aquatoria is in about 20 minutes drive from Nevskii Prospekt, or 15 minutes walk from the metro station.

Propaganda

More than 10 years have passed since the fall of the Soviet regime; perhaps a decade is long enough to allow Soviet style to make a come-back. That seems to be the idea behind this bar/restaurant—one of the first major new hang-outs to open in the last several years. The interior is ostensibly based on the geometric styling of Soviet propaganda posters (hence the name). This theme is continued on the metallic walls in bold red and greens and with a small Lenin statue in the window. Although designed with tourists in mind, visitors to Propaganda are more often than not Russians. The best time to visit is on Friday and Saturday nights when the somewhat stale daytime atmosphere is replaced by lively crowds. The food (a combination of American diner and British pub) is presented in baskets with generous portions and copious salads. The drinks selection is adequate. Notables include Guiness and champagne by the glass.

Money Honey & City Club

A popular rockabilly, rock'n'roll and country music club. The interior is made in American style, there are three floors full of entertainment. The first (ground) floor is a nice "rock'n'roll" bar, serving quite cheap food and beer (possible to eat for $5 with a drink!). The second floor has a bar, dancefloor, pool rooms, and other games. The third floor is a kind of VIP lounge with a view on the dancefloor. Watch out for security guys (former militia employees) – they are pretty rude sometimes, do not expect good manners and politeness. Former musical director and old staff of City now operate Red Club, regularly inviting famous western musicians, bands and DJs. Popular with young people, "cowboys", and foreigners for cheap thrills and easy pick ups. Admission (100 rubles – $3.5, normally) paid at the doors of Money Honey will automatically give you access to City club.

Liverpool

(PWT) The Beatles tribute bar, with photos of the band and other memorabilia all over. Live bands playing Beatles covers and 60s-70s music at night. Ringo Starr gave a press-conference here before his concert in St. Petersburg a couple of years ago. Opened Sunday through Thursday, 11am to 2am. ; Friday, Saturday, 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Live concerts, 8pm to 11.30pm . Free entrance.

Magrib

This place is fashionable for fashionable and is becoming the most popular nightlife spot, especially for trendy St. Petersburg'ers and foreign travelers. There's also a restaurant and cafe inside. The location right on Nevsky Prospekt makes it impossible to miss.
The decor is made in the Eastern theme, featuring Asian rugs, special vases and carvings on the walls. The music is not especially good, but gives a party mood. People usually come to meet each other, so it's a good place for those, who want to get a date. Entrance is 400R, open daily

Ostrov Club

(PWT) Located in a newly restored mansion, build by architect Briullov back in the 19th century. Interiors are great and classy. The club is quite popular among wealthier clubbers, gays and bohemian crowd. Definitely not cheap - it pleases tastes of new bourgeois generation with erotic shows, gourmet dishes and elite alcohol. DJs and music programs are average; it’s not what people come here for. Works: Thursday – Saturday 10 p.m. – 6 a.m. Entrance 200 to 400 rub.
