Tver State United History, Architecture and Literature Museum
Tver State History, Architecture and Literature Museum is one of the oldest provincial museums in Russia . It was first solemnly open for visitors on the 9 th of August 1866 in the presence of Great Princes Alexander and Vladimir. In present the museum has 13 halls, relating about the history, architecture and culture of the region since ancient times till present days.

Tver Regional Picture-Gallery
Tver Regional Picture-Gallery is one of the oldest art museums in Russia . Its collection was formed on the Tver State United History, Architecture and Literature Museum collection over 130 years ago. An important role in formation and scientific study of the collection played Tver Regional Archive Commission under the rule of A. Jiznevskij. In 1937 the art department of the museum was separated and Regional Picture-Gallery was formed. Since 1962 its exposition is situated in Tver Emperor Travel Palace an architectural monument of the 18 th-beginning 19 th century, built by architects P.Nikitin and M.Kazakov and later reconstructed by K.Rossi.
The exposition holds more than 17,000 articles. These includes collections of paintings of 14-20 th century, graphics of 18-20 th century, sculptures of 18-20 th century, arts and crafts of 18-20 th century, furniture of 18-20 th century and materials from archeological sights.
