There
are a lot of towns and cities in the world called Moscow. There are
27 Moscows in the USA alone: one group of Moscows stretches from
Maine to Alabama, and to Minnesota, Moscow in Nevada, Moscow in
Missouri, Moscow in Pennsylvania... All these names were influenced
by the glorious name of the city in the heart of Russia!
Founded
in the 13th century Moscow has been witness of many famous and
tragic events of Russian history. Enemy guns rattled at its walls,
revolts, numerous fires, plague, revolutions broke out with certain
regularity. Moscow has come through the times of glory and oblivion
and has grown to be the center of Russias political, cultural,
economical life, and one of the modern Meccas for tourist from all
over the world!
The
Moscow Kremlin, built as early as the 15th century, St.
Basil's Cathedral, erected on the order of Ivan the Terrible, the
modern stone Mausoleum constructed in 1930 and holding a crystal
sarcophagus with V.I. Lenin's body - all these attractions are
concentrated in Red Square and are evidence of the contradictory and
dramatic development of the Russian national idea!
As
well as the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, constructed on a vow
given by sovereign Alexander I in gratitude for saving fatherland
"from the Gauls invasion" and blown up in 1931 by
Communists for the sake of construction of The Chamber of Soviets,
which was never completed. Subsequently the foundation ditch was
used for the construction of swimming - pool " Moscow ".
The temple was restored in 1997 and now looks exactly the same as it
was before the dramatic events of the beginning of the 20th century.

Tretyakov Gallery, holding the art
treasures of Russia, the Novodevichy convent, the spritual center of
Russia, The Bolshoi Theatre, the second largest of Europe after the
famous "La Scala" Theatre of Milan and other numerous
attractions of Moscow are all worth to be seen.
There
are other reasons to visit Moscow apart from its immense historical
heritage. The night life in Moscow is breathtaking. "Metelitsa" Entertainment center with its
Night Club is one of the most vibrant venues in Russias capital,
the brightest constellation in the Moscow night. On visiting
Metelitsa, famed for its entertainment program, you can truly feel
you are getting everything this dazzling city has to offer. Treat
yourself to a visit of The Hungry Duck, DOLLS, 16 Tons and you will
have unforgettable time!
Take a walk down Tverskaya
Street with its luxuriant shops and restaurants and cozy cafés. Visit the shopping malls of Moscow and you will sure find a
lot of souvenirs at agreeable prices. The most famous are the
Shopping Center Okhotny Ryad situated in the very heart of
Moscow in immediate proximity to Red Square, TSUM one of the largest
and most successful department stores in Russia, located in the very
center of Moscow next to the Red Square and the Bolshoi Theater,
GUM, which is not only an architectural masterpiece, but also a wide
network of shops in Moscow.
Moscows
parks such as Park Gorkova offer entertainment throughout the year:
illuminated skating rings with loud music in winter and exciting
rides in spring and summer. Do not forget that Moscow has the world's best ice cream!
The
world's best metro system, which can take your from one end of the
city to the other in less than one hour is also in Moscow. All the
170 Moscow metro stations are considered to be architectural
masterpieces, presenting Russian Historical scenes.
