Late Summer Tour 2005  July 28 - August 6

We have had tours to Kiev for many years. Though I worked on Anastasia tours several times this one was special for me – it was my first visit to Kiev. Kiev is a wonderful city, very green, beautiful and famous for its traditions and history.
The tour started at the airport. We went there to meet the group. Kiev airport is very busy as it is a capital of Ukraine. Everything was ok and it didn’t take us long to meet everyone. When the last client passed through the customs we got onto the bus and left for the Lybid hotel (in English it stands for “swan”).
At the orientation meeting that lasted for about an hour we talked on our tour program and about the city and things that are important to know. My advice is not to miss the briefing - the most essential and important information is given there and you’ll also have a chance to ask any questions. This was rather tiring to fly across the ocean, to come to a different country that seems to be almost on the other side of the globe and to be listening to some additional information! Jet lag! Too many impressions for one day! I tried to make the briefing as short as possible and I think I managed to keep everybody’s attention.
The optional dinner was very good as usual. It’s an excellent opportunity to get to know each other better. In Kiev we have our optional dinner in TGI Fridays. This is a good place not far from the hotel and we had a nice evening there.
The socials, the most important part of the tour, were held in Orangereya club – on of the best clubs in Kiev. It’s a very nice place, I should say. On Friday we had 246 and on Saturday – 212 ladies. On the third day we had a social in Vinnitsa. One of the clients said: ‘I believe that second city tour is very necessary. The small city ladies seem to be more sincere…’ Many ladies were waiting when we arrived there. Unfortunately not all the clients went there (there were 17 men with us) and we had 260 ladies! The atmosphere was good. Some clients thought however, the music was too loud to them. We always have a lot of ladies that’s why we have a special program for them. It includes dancing and a number of contests. I should admit that intercity travel was sort of difficult, as Vinnitsa is a long way from Kiev (a little more than 3 hours).
We had three excursions on our program (city tour, the Kiev – Pechera Lavra of the Holy Dominion and Pirogovo – the Ukrainian Folk Park). Most of the group took this chance and they were not disappointed about that (and please, note, that they could take the ladies with them). We had a really wonderful guide in the Kiev – Pechera Lavra, and that was the thing that all had to admit. It is the oldest monastery not only in Kiev, but also in the whole country. And as for Pirogovo, the clients said that they would never forget this trip: the windmills and old churches were spectacular.
The Hospitality Room at the hotel was available every day and the assistants (Lilia and me) were glad to help the clients. They came there for help: when they didn’t know what to say to this or that lady to impress her, when they wanted to get in contact with the ladies they corresponded with or wanted to meet with, when they needed some tips, when they were trying to decide where to invite the lady or what to put on. This is quite understandable – they don’t know the city and traditions of the country. And we did our best to help them.
All in all the trip was OK: no big problems, some engagements and the clients were leaving Kiev satisfied and glad that they had a chance to get acquainted, to meet so many beautiful ladies and to see such a wonderful city as Kiev.
